'Blue Square Premiership Bash' Family Fun Day at TFC

Thursday Oct 15, 2009

Families from Tamworth and surrounding areas are invited to come along to a Family Fun Day hosted by Tamworth Football Club and South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT)

On Saturday October 31st when Tamworth FC will be playing host to Hayes and Yeading Utd and Touch Fm will be broadcasting live from the event between 12 and 2pm.

Both teams were delighted to have won promotion to the Blue Square Premiership league at the end of last season, but it's Tamworth who is currently riding high in their new league!   Anybody coming to the Lambs' ground on October 31 will be able to enjoy an assortment of family fun activities before the game, from face painting to balloon modeling and magic!

A range of other attractions include Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, who will be on hand for those who want to explore a fire engine, and a children's penalty shoot out at half time with "Big Cig" from the Time to Quit  stop smoking team.  As well as the fun activities, there will also be professional advice and support available to anyone considering giving up smoking and information to take away explaining where people can get help if they want it.

Nick Lunn, Commercial Manager of Tamworth Football Club, said: "Our supporters and the local community are really important to us at The Lambs, so we are really pleased to work with partners to improve their health and wellbeing.  We hope people will come along to watch the game and enjoy the activities, and I hope that they also take advantage of the opportunity to find out a bit more about some of the issues around the harm caused by smoking, and the fantastic support that is available to help them at the same time."

Chris Stanley, Tobacco Control Coordinator, South Staffordshire Primary Care Trust, said: "It's great to be able to support Tamworth FC during this exciting time in their club's history.  For only £5 an adult and two children will be able to come to the match and join in the fun. We'll be there with a few other partners to provide information and advice, and we expect to enjoy the day as much as the supporters do."

South Staffordshire PCT has 200 family tickets for the Family Fun Day (including the match) at only £5 for one adult and two children.  Vouchers will be available in the Tamworth Herald each week from 1st October, or from a stand at Ankerside Shopping Centre on 10 October between 10am and 2pm which can then be redeemed for family tickets at the Tamworth FC in advance of the day.
